My main research interests lie in the archaeology of Greek religion, especially in the areas of Southern Italy and Sicily. My MPhil dissertation will investigate the sanctuary of Cybele at Akrai (Sicily), examining whether the sanctuary’s unique sculptures (distinctive for the contemporaneous presence of all of Cybele’s typical companions) may stand for distinctive rituals and religious notions, as well as analysing the sanctuary’s landscape and its role in the diffusion of Cybele’s cult in the Hellenistic period.
My other research interests include Etruscan archaeology and religion, Hellenistic history and archaeology, scientific approaches to archaeology (particularly materials analysis and bioarchaeology), and cultural heritage.
